DYC

Project Story

The Ibadan Anglican Diocese’s Youth Department had been experiencing a decline in attendance at their annual Youth Convention (DYC), with many youths opting for events hosted by other churches. For that year’s edition of the convention, they needed event branding that would captivate the youth and draw them back to the event, re-igniting interest and engagement.

The Challenge

Indigenous churches in Nigeria, particularly the Anglican Diocese, had traditionally not prioritised event branding or activities that engage young people. This gap led to a decline in attendance at the DYC over the past decade. The task was to refresh the convention’s branding for that year’s edition, ensuring it was dynamic and appealing to today’s youth while reflecting the values of the church.

The Insight

Research revealed that young people are attracted to modern, visually engaging event branding that reflects their culture and interests. To re-engage the youth, it became clear that the DYC needed to be positioned not just as a spiritual event, but as one that speaks to their contemporary world, offering an experience that was both relevant and relatable.

The Execution

For that year’s convention, a bold and modern visual identity was introduced, incorporating vibrant colours, dynamic typography, and engaging design elements that resonated with the youth. A comprehensive range of assets was created, including print and social ads, convention materials such as notebooks and tags, and digital assets like social media posts and YouTube thumbnails for each session. Additionally, a website landing page was designed to facilitate registration and raise awareness for the event. These assets worked together to create a cohesive, exciting experience, capturing the attention of the target audience while staying true to the church’s values and mission.
